Follow these steps to initialize your Ledger hardware wallet securely
Install Ledger Live on your computer or smartphone. This is the official app to manage your Ledger device.
Use the provided USB cable to connect your Ledger Nano to your computer. For Nano X, you can also use Bluetooth.
Choose "Set up as new device" and follow the on-screen instructions to configure your PIN code.
Choose a PIN that's difficult to guess and never share it with anyone. The PIN is required every time you connect your Ledger.
Your device will generate a 24-word recovery phrase. Write these words down in order on your recovery sheet.
This recovery phrase is the ONLY way to recover your funds if your Ledger is lost or damaged. Store it securely offline and never digitize it.
Use Ledger Live to install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.).
Create accounts in Ledger Live for each cryptocurrency you want to use. Your device will generate secure addresses.

Without your 24-word recovery phrase, you cannot recover your funds if your Ledger is lost, stolen, or damaged. We strongly recommend storing multiple copies in secure physical locations.
Yes, you can change your PIN at any time through the device settings. Your existing PIN will be required to make changes.
Yes, Ledger Nano X uses secure Bluetooth communication that doesn't expose your private keys. For maximum security, you can disable Bluetooth and use USB only.
